Puberty, the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, postpartum and menopause are associated with hormonal and life changes that can modulate mood, sleep, anxiety and the capacity for adaptation. In addition, factors such as mental load, social pressure and gender bias in healthcare continue to significantly affect the experience of many women.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>At Aliantis Sitges, we understand women\u2019s mental health from an integrative perspective, where the body, emotions, personal history and social context are part of the same process. It is influenced by biology, personal history, relationships, environment and daily demands. For many women, certain experiences recur with particular frequency: hormonal changes throughout life, caregiving demands, pressure around body image, self-expectation, inequalities in the distribution of responsibilities and, at times, healthcare that does not always listen to or correctly interpret what is happening.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>Talking about women\u2019s mental health does not mean reducing women to their hormones or assuming that all women experience the same difficulties. It means recognizing that specific vulnerabilities exist and deserve to be understood without stereotypes or oversimplifications. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-83ae57d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"83ae57d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Hormonal changes and life stages<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-502589d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"502589d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThroughout life, many women go through moments when the body changes intensely and continuously. These changes do not explain everything that happens emotionally on their own, but they can influence stress sensitivity, sleep, mood and the way each stage is experienced. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c5ef452 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"c5ef452\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Puberty and adolescence<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4aac772 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4aac772\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Puberty is a stage of profound reorganization. The body, identity, relationship with body image, social life and self-perception all change. During this period, anxiety, irritability, body shame, insecurity or greater emotional sensitivity may appear. Supporting this stage well is important so that the first experiences related to the cycle, the body and sexuality are not lived through fear or disconnection.   <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7949a56 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"7949a56\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Menstrual cycle, PMS and PMDD<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-45677ca elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"45677ca\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Emotional symptoms associated with the menstrual cycle are common. Premenstrual syndrome can include irritability, fatigue, emotional lability or difficulty concentrating. In a smaller proportion of women, the picture can be much more intense and correspond to premenstrual dysphoric disorder, a recognized condition that can clearly interfere with daily life. ACOG notes that PMDD affects approximately 5% of women of reproductive age.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>When these symptoms are systematically trivialized, many women end up normalizing suffering that deserves attention and support.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d197fb1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"d197fb1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Pregnancy and postpartum<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-49b3e6c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"49b3e6c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Pregnancy is not always experienced only through joy. It can bring excitement, but also fear, insecurity, vulnerability, fatigue and emotional changes that are difficult to name. During the postpartum period, the physical, hormonal and life impact can be even more intense. The WHO states that, worldwide, around 10% of women during pregnancy and 13% after childbirth experience a mental disorder, mainly depression.   <\/p><p> <\/p><p>This reminds us that perinatal emotional support is not an extra, but an essential part of care.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0bd9671 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"0bd9671\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Perimenopause and menopause<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d5b5a26 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d5b5a26\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Perimenopause and menopause are not only biological processes. They can be accompanied by sleep disturbances, irritability, mood changes, increased anxiety, a feeling of disorientation or loss of bodily reference points. The Office on Women\u2019s Health notes that sleep problems, mood changes, anxiety or depression can appear at this stage, and that many women do not feel \u201clike themselves\u201d during the menopausal transition.  <\/p><p> <\/p><p>Reducing this stage to \u201chot flashes and hormones\u201d leaves out an important part of many women\u2019s emotional experience.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bf40ae1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"bf40ae1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Mental load and daily pressure<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-23504e8 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"23504e8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMental health is also affected when daily life requires constant, invisible attention that is difficult to distribute. Many women simultaneously hold together family organization, domestic logistics, work, care management and the planning of multiple tasks that are not always recognized as real effort. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d6a896e elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"d6a896e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">A fatigue that is not always visible<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-662dfcc elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"662dfcc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Mental load is not expressed only as a lack of time. It can also appear as difficulty switching off, a feeling of saturation, irritability, insomnia, guilt or persistent exhaustion. It is not always visible from the outside, but it can take up a large part of one\u2019s inner space.  <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-978523f elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"978523f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">When caring for everything leaves self-care aside<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b460bc7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b460bc7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMany women find it difficult to prioritize their own health because they feel there is always something more urgent to take care of. Be competent, be productive, be a good mother, be desirable, be calm, manage everything. When these demands accumulate, the psychological impact can be considerable.  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8bc10ea elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"8bc10ea\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Constant comparison<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5e04866 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5e04866\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Comparison is not new, but today it finds a permanent amplifier in digital environments. Many women are exposed to models of success, motherhood, body or wellbeing that seem unattainable and generate a constant feeling of insufficiency. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c8f8bfe elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"c8f8bfe\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The link with self-esteem<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-84f3ddf elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"84f3ddf\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWhen one\u2019s own gaze becomes too conditioned by external validation, self-esteem becomes more fragile.
